Hello and thank you for your interest in the 2008 Santa Clara Vanguard Colorguard!
During the audition process consideration will be based on your skills through movement, marching, and equipment. Previous dance, and equipment training is always recommended. However, your work ethic, and attitude are of extreme importance, and will be closely examined.
You will need to be dressed in comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely, and will present your form, and feet. You won't want to wear baggy clothing, or shoes that don't allow for flexibility during movement. You will need a pair of running shoes for marching. Other considerations are body type (weight/height proportionate), past experience, availability, and performance ability. Please inform us of any pre-existing injuries. If you have a rifle or sabre please bring it with you. Flags will be supplied.
Remember, you are auditioning for a performance ensemble, so enjoying what you do is very important, and will always be noticed!!!
You will be notified by mail of the outcome of your audition a couple of weeks after, this will allow you to start planning. Video auditions are welcomed, BUT, you will not be accepted until the staff has seen you in person. The video will simply allow us to know of potential members, and their talent. Please visit the video auditions page for further information.
If you have any questions, concerns, or need information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with David Meikle, Colorguard Caption Head, at dvm67@aol.com.
We look forward to meeting you and providing you with an experience of a lifetime at SCV!
