| This camp is for those who desire to audition for membership in the Santa Clara Vanguard or Vanguard Cadets. The camp is an opportunity for you to learn and experience the Santa Clara Vanguard organization. Please understand that we are glad you are interested and are looking forward to your participation. Just relax and do your best. Good luck!
How audition camps are different from our normal camps:
- Overnight housing is NOT provided by the Vanguard organization. We have made special arrangements with local hotels - please see below.
- There WILL be a Vanguard shuttle service from/to the San Jose Int'l Airport (SJC). Please fill out a Shuttle Request Form with your flight information.
- Everyone (including returning members) must fill out the RSVP form.
If you are only interested in the Vanguard Cadets, you are encouraged to attend the full-weekend combined Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets clinic detailed below. For potential new members, this is a chance to learn the fundamental Santa Clara Vanguard approach to playing, marching and movement. For returning members, these clinics are the perfect opportunity to sharpen current skills and challenge yourself to acquire new ones. However, if you don't feel like you're ready for the combined auditions or are interested only in the Vanguard Cadets, you must attend auditions specifically for the Vanguard Cadets Sunday, November 25.
LOCATION
The audition camp will take place at Mission College in Santa Clara.
MEALS
The audition camps include all meals throughout the weekend. If you have any special dietary requirements, make sure to state those on the RSVP form. We will make every effort to accommodate any special requirements you may have within reason. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate vegans due to the strict nature of their requirements. Vegans are completely different from vegetarians - whom we do accommodate.
HOUSING
We have made special rate arrangements with the Holiday Inn, Santa Clara at $89 per night (not including taxes and surcharges). The hotel is directly across the street from Mission College. The Vanguard organization will have a greeting table at the Holiday Inn to assist those who would like to find a roommate upon arrival and reduce the cost of the room charges. You are encouraged to make hotel reservations in advance by calling them at (408) 235-8900. Mention you're with the Santa Clara Vanguard.
If you are planning on using a parent or guardian's credit card, you MUST fill out and
bring this Credit Card Authorization form for the Holiday Inn with you.

TRANSPORTATION
We recommend that you make travel arrangements to San Jose International Airport (SJC). SCV will make shuttle runs to/from the airport throughout the day. Look for a Vanguard bus, motor home or suburban outside the baggage claim area. The Holiday Inn also provides free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. There are hotel direct phone lines in the baggage claim area.
For those arriving at the Santa Clara Train Station or San Jose Bus Station, there are affordable rates from local taxi companies to the hotel. For anyone arriving at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) or Oakland International Airport (OAK) you will have to make your own arrangements with San Francisco shuttles or Oakland shuttles.
REGISTRATION FEE
$90 - for all participants attending the entire weekend; $25 - for those attending the Vanguard Cadets audition clinic on Sunday only (regardless if you are a returning member or not). Fee is non-refundable and does not go towards payment of the yearly member fee. This is a one-time fee per person, per year and is not refundable. We recommend you pre-pay this fee when you RSVP.
